Stunning castles and historic houses give an insight into the area's history. Castles such as Caernarfon Conwy and Harlech are World Heritage sights and the area also boasts seven National Trust properties, such as Penrhyn Castle at Bangor and Bodnant Garden in Conwy.

Initially constructed to haul slate from the caverns and quarries, Snowdonia's narrow gauge railways provide a wonderful way to see the area. Snowdon Mountain Railway offers spectacular views from the highest mountain in England and Wales whilst Llanberis Lake Railway offers a beautiful five mile trip along scenic Llyn Padarn.
